strong minds, corageous souls, kind hearts
Solacy was breathing heavily, trying to keep standing despite her legs shaking. All around her was noise, noise of screams and sorrow. She wasn't sure what was worse, hearing a fellow Stelciar cry out in pain when getting injured or hearing the sobs of those trying to save the fallen fighters. Damaged wings, slashed arms, torn out fur. The void beasts were ruthless. They didn't hesitate and they couldn't be stopped by just injuring them. They didn't seem to feel pain and would still continue attacking even if one of their limbs was gone. It felt like a losing battle. Maybe the battle was even lost before they even started, going up against an indestructible force.
Worst of all, Solacy had lost her weapon. She fought with a spear but that was embedded into the rib cage of a monster now and she wasn't able to get it back before the beast clawed at her chest. She was breathing hard and heard a rattling noise in her chest when doing so. That probably wasn't a good sign. Solacy was contemplating what she should do. She couldn't keep fighting like this but she also didn't want to retreat and leave the others behind. Her body felt weak but she probably had still enough power in her to at least fly around and distract some of the monsters so they wouldn't attack others.
Her body was so heavy but she still managed to get it up into the air. She immediately looked to where the loudest screams had been coming from. Two Stelciars were cornered with their backs towards a rocky wall. In front of them was a six legged monster with four arms and claws in the air, ready to attack. And above them flew another void monster, circling them in and keeping them from flying away. One of the Stelciar seemed to be unconscious with the other one standing guard over their body, eyes flickering back and forth between the two beasts. They clearly didn't want to leave their fallen friend behind but also had no chance to retreat or fight against both monsters at once. Solacy urged her wings to fly faster while her throughts were racing. Should she try to lure away the flying beast or the one on the ground? The ground monster looked slow despite having six legs so if she lure away the flying one it would probably be better. Or should she try and help with getting the unconsicious Stelciar out of here? Her throbbing injured legs didn't feel strong enough for that... She would first distract the flying one and get it far away, maybe she had luck and could loop it around until it los sight of her and she could then come back. She only had to hope she was faster than the thing...
She was so focused on the flying monster already that she startled when the Stelciar on the ground suddenly screamed. For a horrifying moment Solacy thought the monster had struck and that she was coming too late. But the scream was not one of pain, it sounded enraged. Suddenly a bright spark lit up and covered everything in blue light. The Stelciars body was engulfed in fire, gorgeous flames angrily swishing around and keeping the monster away. The void shrieked, clearly confused and angry about their easy prey fighting back. Solacy was in awe as she looked on how the Stelciar threw out their wings and then attacked the beast, their fire burning bright and strong, a force that the void couldn't handle. The flying monster saw that as the chance to attack the unconscious Stelciar though and Solacy just made it in time to hit it on its back and then promptly turning around, the void now focused on her and taking on the pursuit. Her heart was beating fast and strong and she cursed having such a long tail. At least the fire would keep the monster away from striking her there. While she flew away she made a slight turn so she could glance back. The flame covered Stelciar had beaten the monster and was getting their friend away from the field. Good.
From her high position in the air Solacy saw that there were a few other Stelciar that also bright burned, the different flame colors painting a beautifuly picture that was in stark contrast to the otherwise grim and gruesome battle. Solacy didn't know what that was but it gave her new hope. Maybe they could really turn this fight around? Maybe there was still a chance and they hadn't lost after all? The monster behind her shrieked - suddenly way too close - and she felt a slashing pain on her left flank. She cried out, exhaustion clearly being too much for her to continue flying like this. She dove back down between trees to hopefully confuse the monster when a different flame covered Stelciar flew directly towards her and let out a flame breath hitting the monsters face. Pride and love swelled in her chest, knowing that they were all looking out for each other. They all had strong minds, corageous souls and kind hearts. Friendship and unity. Something the Void would never have.
