The Bow
The war zone was filled with ashes and smoke. Flames licked the air, sparkling vividly against the shrouding darkness. Despite the heat of the flames, the environment felt cold and ominous. It was the feeling of cold sweat. The feeling of unease and fear. And at the heart of this place, was a towering entity made of darkness.
It pulsed and squirmed. Its body moved in uncomfortable ways as if unused to its own size. Sometimes, a piece of its body would distort and extend as if trying to separate before returning back to its position. It looked uncomfortable, and yet continued to keep itself together.
The entity roars shook the very ground it was on. Its voice a cacophony of sounds jumbled and fused together into an uncomfortable shriek. It was the kind of sound that would send shivers. An uncomfortable noise that left the mind weak.
The Void was powerful. Extremely so.
What were once weak shades had accumulated into a horrid amalgamation of light-consuming terror and fear. Beneath the pitch black smog wrapping around them, their slightly more tangible bodies flickered with flashes of horrific images, as if glitching through different fears. It was vaguely iridescent in an unpleasant way. Similar to grimey oil on clean metal or water.
The Void was large and so, so hungry. It was starving. Not for flesh and carnage, but for light.
Beautiful, glowing light. Any kind of light. However, it had a particular taste for the most intangible kind. The kind that comes from hope and kindness. The kind that was fueled by benevolence and optimism rather than by anything chemical.
In a way, fusing together left the Void hunger in a way it never knew it could feel before. With its giant body came an insurmountable hunger. It didn’t matter, though. This hunger would be satiated. It just had to get rid of anything that got in its way.
However, the stelciars did not come unprepared. They had forged an assortment of weapons to fight against this creature of darkness. Many chose physical weapons, preferring to focus on physical damage. Others chose magical weapons instead, casting spells of all kinds. Of course, there were also stelciars who forged shields instead. Protecting themselves and their comrades; tanking damage and providing safe opportunities to attack the Void.
Some stelciars chose to be healers. They stood anywhere from the border of the warzone to the heart of it. With eyes constantly flickering, making sure nothing would be out of their sight. Those that had the magical ability to heal wounds would do so, while others would use medical supplies to help aid the healing process. The healers would work together to deliver the most effective healing, reducing both the magic and supplies needed per injured stelciar.
In the war zone, dark as it was, stelciars flooded the skies and ground. Their smokey flames a stunning brightness against the smoke and ash. All with a role of their own in this daunting battle.
These lovely felines were united under one mission, and they coordinated with each other. If one of its fellow comrades was heavily injured, the stelciar would bring its companion to a safer area where their injuries would be tended to by the healers.
It may have been war, but the only loss they would take was the defeat of the Void.
Among the many stelciars, six were of particular note. They had names, but during this battle, their weapons had temporarily become their namesake. The amount of skill and battle ability they exhibited were an inspiration to all, and they had been battling against the Void tirelessly.
One of those six stelciars was the Bow. Reminiscent of a blazing sun, their core consisted of a bright gold that would shimmer and shift to pinks, blues, and purples near the edges. The flames on their wings were reminiscent of a seraphim, coming to three spread tips. A lovely black bow adorned their neck, and an intricate crown was on their head.
They were elegant and spry, and in their little paws was a beautiful wooden bow. Polished and well built, it was a reliable ranged weapon. Although it did only mild physical damage compared to other weapons, the stelciar that wielded it had magic that was only second to the Scepter. The Scepter was a stelciar that specialized specifically in magical attacks and had the greatest magic out of the six.
Still, the Bow’s magical ability was almost up to par. Embedding the arrows with their magic, the Bow released significant damage on the Void. The arrows shot through the air like shooting stars. The metal arrowheads glimmered in the darkness, always hitting the Void no wonder how much the towering darkness squirmed and tried to dodge.
When the Bow released multiple arrows at once, it was like a meteor shower. Each arrow caused both physical and magical damage to the Void.
The Void shrieked, its cry vibrating even the air, causing some stelciars to stumble mid flight. However, the Bow stood strong, fur being slicked back by the shockwave. With another arrow in their paw, they locked onto their target, and released the arrow.
