Kinnie's Comet Dust
kinnie's comet dust
It was a drizzly day on Nebula island and along the rocky cliff face a bright shimmering orange glimmer could be seen wandering the rocks. Kinnie or Kinka, was exploring the rocky part of the shore in the hopes to find some layward comet shards that had gotten stuck in the cracks of the rocks, or were washed into them by the rolling waves of the ocean surrounding the island. She clung with her little bean fingers to the rock like a barnacle would, and shimmied herself into a crack in a large rock. THERE! she thought to herself, as she saw a glinting vaguely rainbow coloured shard stuck in the crack. I knew there'd be some around here! Quickly she shimmied herself into the crack, and tugged at the comet shard stuck inside. She yanked and pulled and used her whole body weight before suddenly... POP! Out came the shard in her tiny little bean fingers. She had yanked with such force she was sent flying backwards into the ocean, where she rolled around in the current for a bit, before swimming to a safer part of the ocean. This makes 6 shards~! she thought to herself humming along with satisfaction, as she added the new shard to her pouch that already contained a glistening hoard. As the festival went on, it was getting tricky to find comet shards! You had to look in all the unconventional spots. Why, she found one the other day in a seagulls nest, hidden underneath an egg! It was most crazy. Happy now that her pouch was full, Kinka swam back to her home among the coral reefs in a shallower end of the ocean. It was the first year she was partaking in the Star Monarch Festival, and she wanted a LOT of comet dust to spend on all the delicious food and trinkets! Why just the other day, she had bought herself a fabulous shiny gift! There was a stall selling shiny pink stones hanging off a bit of ribbon something called an 'I love you' collar? While it was meant for Stelciar's, it was just so shiny and pretty she had to have one for herself! Currently it was hanging from a piece of coral, twinkling in the light from the surface water above. A perfect charm for warding off the void. she thought to herself with a nod. As she closed the front door to her home, she began to empty the shards onto her coral workbench. One-by-one she ground them down into comet dust. Carefully using a small clam shell and a stick of hardy coral she had picked up a few months prior she set to work. It was hard wing-work pounding the hardy coral into the shards to make dust! And by the time she was finished, the moon had risen over her little abode. Carefully she scooped her dust back into her pouch, and satisfied she pulled the strings tight so none may escape. Wiping her brow with her hand she tossed her hair over her shoulder. It was hard work making comet dust!
