"There you are! I've been searching all over for you!"
Skrunkly heard the voice and it did sound familiar but there was no way that he was being meant. So he kept his eyes closed and was trying to drift off again until his left wing got poked with determination.
"Huh?"
He sleepily opened his eyes and blinked a few times before the image before him got a bit clearer. Kinka was standing in front of him, hands firmly on her hips and a determined look on her face.

"Why are you sleeping! Or better yet how can you sleep with all these fun festival stalls around you?"
"Uhhh...."
Skrunkly blinked again and tried to get his bearings. He went to the festival mainly fo the food. There were so many different snacks to try out it was pretty much impossible to eat them all in just one night so he had just been working his way up from one side of the festival to the next. And after eating good food it was only natural to get tired, right? So he had found a nice tree to lean against where he could watch the fireworks if he wanted to. And yeah, maybe his eyes had fallen shut for a bit. But only a little while!
"Well I wasn't really sleeping. And what was that part with searching for me. Do you mean me?"
Kinka looked as if she wanted to roll her eyes but could just barely resist the impulse. Instead she let out a sigh and seemed to deflate a little bit with it.
"Yes, I mean you! There haven't been a lot of entries for the Furthest Flight game tonight, maybe because it's a Monday and everyone went on the weekend and is noe recovering. But! That also means that tonight is a good chance to win! But I need a partner for that of course. Are you in?"
Skrunkly was already tired so the thought of having to do exercise right now was pretty appalling.
"I have to fly as high as possible and then you jump off and glide as long as you can, right?"
"Yep, that's it! You have ten seconds to fly up so it really won't take long. Are you up for it? Pleaaaase!"
Skrunkly sighed and wanted to resists Kinkas charms but deep down he already knew that she had won.

"Only one round, yeah? I only have to fly you up and after that I can leave?"
"Yes! Let's go, come on!"
Skrunkly didn't even try to ask if she didn't want a more ahtletic partner that would be stronger and faster. Kinka seemed determined to have him by her side today and he was okay with following her lead. As long as she knew what she was getting into and that he wouldn't be the best choice for this kind of competition.
"So have you been joining that game every night since the festival started?"
"Not every night, but I do try! It's super fun and you have a great view over the whole festival area from up high."
The queue to join the game really wasn't long, Kinka had been right with Monday being not a busy day. They only had to wait around three minutes before it was their turn. Skrunkly still wasn't 100% sure on what he really was supposed to do but there probably wasn't much he could do wrong in just flying up. So he did just that. Then there was a whistle to be heard and Kinka soared away from him. Her movements seemed fluent and practiced like the choreography of a dance. Skrunkly looked on in awe and interest until one of the judges told him to clear the air space for the next pair. So he flew towards Kinka until they met up on the ground again.
"That was fun! Thanks for joining with me!", was the enthusiastic greeting he got.
"Yeah, I guess it was pretty cool. I don't think I was fast enough though."
"You never know! Maybe this is the night to win. Let's get some waffles to celebrate."
"Celebrate before you even know if it was enough?"
"Sure, I'll take any reasons to get some waffles!"
