Like a walk in the park

Skrunkly was more than nervous even though there was no real reason for it. He had planned this day for a while now and couldn't wait to surprise Morimo with walk through the park where at the end a little scavenger hunt would lead him to the picnic that Skrunkly had prepared. The idea sounded sweet at the time of planning but it wasn't that grand of a gesture and a lot of other Stelciars had prepared much more luxurious gifts for their loved ones. That shouldn't be the deciding factor though, the most important thin was that Mori would enjoy it and be happy with the time spent together! Right?
Skrunkly was a nervous mess as he waited on their agreed meeting point and finally laid eyes on his lovely partner. Mori was radiant as ever, his white fur and green wings making him look like the purest and prettiest flower in a field of grass. Despite his anxiety Skrunkly couldn't help but smile when he saw Mori and he walked forwards to embrace him in a hug before placing a kiss on his cheek. Now his stomach was full of a different kind of energy, the nervous flutter being replaced by excited butterflies.

"I'm so happy I get to spend the day with you."
Skrunkly knew he was a weird little guy and didn't deserve someone as Mori. He shouldn't place that much worth on appearance and what others thought of him, he just wanted Mori to like him and that was more than enough. He never felt small in his presence, he never felt lesser, Mori always looked at him with so much love and admiration that Skrunkly couldn't help but feel tall and proud, doing his best to be the version of himself that was an equal partner.

After lingering a bit too long on physical touches and light kisses they started their walk through the park. It was a beautiful day and d there were quite a few of other couples around, cheeks brushing against each other and wings spread to embrace their partners. Mori did the same, his wings covering Skrunkly back like a maginificent cape. Mori was so captivating to talk with that Skrunkly almost missed the right turn to lead him to the west part of the park.

"If you look around you might find a few hidden gifts."
Mori tilted his head in curiosity.
"Hidden gifts? I get more than one?"
"Just small ones. You will notice what I mean."
Mori curiously looked around, face blooming into a smile when he found the first heart-shaped note hanging from a tree branch. Skrunkly had placed letters, heart shaped stones and a balloon that would lead Mori to the picnic area. The letters all contained written memories of some of their past dates and love notes of the things Skrunkly appreciated in their relationship. The heart stones were just painted green and white while the balloon was a hot pink. Mori found the gifts quickly and his smile grew bigger with each one. The ballon then finally lead to a big tree with bushes and on the other side of the bushes was the picnic. Skrunkly had made fruit salad and avocado sandwiches himself, the pieces of cake were bought. In the middle of it all was a big bouqet of flowers, neatly wrapped in a checkered paper.
"I hope you like it."
"Are you kidding me? I love it!!", exclaimed Mori and surged forward for another kiss.
"You are the best. And don't worry, I have a gift for you as well. That one will have to wait until after we ate though, this looks way too delicious!"
Mori settled on the picnic blanket and picked up the flower bouquet, smelling it. Skrunkly sit down as well and immediately leaned against his partner to cuddle, smiling as well. Every day spent together with Mori was the greatest gift he could ask for!
