~Coral and the old soul's advice~
It was a beautiful sunny day in the human realm, and unbeknownst to the humans living their lives, a being was escorting a wayward soul on its way. Coral, was performing her duty as a Stelciar, guiding an old dog, who had lived life to his fullest but now, it was his time to go. The old man had taking his passing relatively well and while he was sad he would leave behind his owner of several years, he was also excited to finally be able to get out of the house he had been stuck in for the last few years of his life... although he seemed a little forgetful even in soul form, Coral thought to herself. She flapped her sea jelly wings lazily riding the currents and gently guiding the old dog's soul as he kept getting distracted mid-flight. Her brow was furrowed as she was halfway concentrating on her job, and halfway concentrating on what she could get for her partner, Mizue. In the past they'd done all the stereotypical Star Monarch Festival things together, and this year she was struggling to come up with something different.
"You seem to be lost in thought. Anything I can help you with?" the old soul asked her, an eyebrow raised.
"Oh! Well... you see, I'm trying to think of something I can give or do with my love, but we've done everything together for so long! I don't even know what I can get him that will be special this year." she said with a sigh.
"Ahhh, it can be tough, being young and in love.... Might I suggest something?" the old soul asked gently.
"Any advice is greatly appreciated."
"Well, in my opinion, sometimes you don't have to do something new! Sometimes the best things in life are the little things. What is something he enjoyed doing with you in the past?"
"Well, we met at the festival last year, and we saw all these stalls on the beach... oh! And he likes it when I sing... apparently I have a good voice." Coral found herself admitting, blushing a little.
"There you go! Why don't you go and invite him to that festival again, huh? Or how about singing his favourite tune! I know my owner always used to sing a song to put me to sleep when I was a wee pup. I even think I might've heard his voice humming a tune as I fell asleep earlier. Although, that might've just been wishful thinking with my bad hearing and all."
"Hmm... you think so? Don't you think it might be a bit... boring?"
"Never child! Give it a go and invite him to that festival. Or better yet, sing him a private performance! I'm sure he'll appreciate it."
"Well, alright then old timer. Aaand here we are, finally at the ocean... thanks for the advice earlier. Shall we get to passing on now, old chum?" she asked twirling to look at the old dog, her jellyfish tails slowly swinging in the ocean breeze. Carefully she extracted his determination, before heading back to Colsentia.
__
As the sun set over Colsentia. A pair of Stelciar could be seen roaming the eastern beaches paws in each others hands. One had a glorious hat of various shades of blue, and the other a gorgeous array of corals pinned to her ear.
"Wow, what a beautiful sunset" said the calico Stelciar with the blue hat.
"Yeah, hehe, doesn't it remind you of when we first met?" Coral said with a smile, her school of fiery fish swimming around her quickly as if indicating her nervousness.
"Yeah! Remember when we bumped into each other at the stalls?"
"How could I forget! I was looking for that super rare stall, and you helped me out!"
"Yeah, back then it was love at first sight, and I haven't looked at any other Stel since." he said with a smile, and Coral couldn't help but feel her heart melt.
"Yeah? Hehe... well, apart from this walk along the beach I have another little thing planned for you. Let's go in this direction!" she exclaimed, flying over to the cliffside, Mizue in tow behind her. As they crested the cliff, Mizue gaped as he saw the little picnic date, Coral had prepared for the two of them. A checkered picnic blanket, with a small basket of treats and flower petals scattered around. "Hehehe, pretty romantic right?" she said with a cheeky smile as the pair flew down to land at the picnic blankets edge.
"Definitely romantic! I can't believe you prepared all this for me!"
"Well, hold onto your hat, Mizue, cause I'm not done yet." Coral said as she hovered above the cliffs edge. "I want to perform you a song~ it's nothing too special since it's just one I sing while I work sometimes... but I hope you like it." she said clearing her throat. She sung a cheerful song about dancing in the moonlight and watched as Mizue's eyes gleamed in the moonlight awestruck by her performance. As she finished singing, she landed on the picnic blanket smiling cheerfully that he'd liked her performance.
"That was... AMAZING Coral!!! I mean, I'd heard you humming that tune now and then but I didn't know there were lyrics!!! Wow. You could be a singer!" And it was a perfect date night all around~

A slightly sad but cute tale~
